During the last few days of March and the beginning of April, a few days in Italy staying with family in Reggio Emilia. The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot - we visited Ferrara, Modena, Florence, Parme, Correggio and, of course, Reggio itself.
Highlights of the trip ? Florence and the Uffizi gallery, an evening trip to the foothills of the Apennines culminating in a superb sunset, the wooden theatre in Parme, the food - particularly lunch in a traditional restaurant in Reggio, the Ferrari museum in Modena and a personal guided tour of the town hall in Ferrara when we mistook it for the entrance to the Ducal palace and a kind security officer took us around including the tunnel to the public part of the Ducal palace.
Lowlights : only one, our return flight was cacelled (no explanation but at the time of the demonstrations/riots in France about the pension reforms) obliging our hosts to put up with us for 2 extra days.
