A week of hiking, of photography and of conviviality with two friends at the end of september in the High Pyrenees. We stayed at the holiday home of one of my friends at Arcizans Avant, around 25km from Lourds, and despite a rather mixed weather forecast, we enjoyed predominantly fine weather.
Amongst many splendid moments : A hike at altitude where we met farmers and their cattle in the course of the annual transhumance to low level pasture for the winter, a visit to the Pic du Midi (2°C and a powerful wind at the summit !) with a gourmet lunch at 2877m, meeting a flock of vultures interested in the carcase of a dead cow, the animals of the Parc Animalier des Pyrénées and the Festival Pyrénéen de l'Image Nature in Cauterets where we saw many magnificent photos. A very full week in great company.
