Since Christmas it had rained almost every day and the forecaast for the planned week of our visit to Alsace was not good. However, the weather turned out to be perfect, temperatures around 20°C and not a drop of rain. Alsace was the only part of France where it did not rain !
The week started with a stop over in Chalon sur Saune to investigate the life and work of Nicephore Niépcé, the father of photography : fascinanting ! Then, the following day we arrived in Colmar and a very nice hotel close enough to the city centre that we could leave the car and visit on foot. During the week we visited Colmar, Riquewihr, les forets des Vosges, Strasbourg, Munster et Mulhouse. A very fine part of the country and a superb cuisine...
Highlights of the visit ? The altar piece "Le retable d'Issenheim" in the Colmar museum and the automobile museum (collection Schlumpf) in Mulhouse - and of course, the cuisine !
